Mirfield Parish Cavaliers Cricket Club

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers Cricket Club

Mirfield Cricket Club as it was then known was formed in 1880 playing at Primrose Farm.

In 1883 MCC took part in the first ever Heavy Woollen Cup, reputidely the oldest Cricket Competition in England.

When the West Riding Central League was formed in 1894 the Club were one of its founder members, until joining the Spen Valley League in 1905.

In 1912 the Club won the Dewsbury & District Cricket Shield outright and it can now be seen displayed in the Clubhouse.

Following it success the Club moved in 1913 to join the Heavy Woollen League and thus the Yorkshire Council.

In 1919 the original club disbanded and Mirfield Parish Church Cricket Club was born.

During the first half of the Twentieth Century the Club had local success winning many trophies, and playing their cricket in the then Dewsbury & District League again winning many titles.

In 1975 the wicket was completeley relaid at a cost of £5000.

Through to 1982, Mirfield Parish joined the Leeds & District Cricket league winning the Second Division in their first season. The Club celebrated it success with the opening of the current clubhouse as we know it today, by non other than Geoffrey Boycott.

In 1987 Mirfield Parish and Dewsbury Cavaliers joined forces at Wellhouse Lane to form todays MPCCC, playing in the Central Yorkshire Cricket League.

The Club gained promotion to the CYCL Premier League in 2001 and have never looked back.
